Therefore, Williamsburg High School students will not return to school tomorrow. They will return to face to face instruction on Monday, January 11th. High school students will have virtual learning this week following the same schedule as we did before the holiday break. The elementary school is opening for all kindergarten through 6th-grade students tomorrow.

Yesterday, the Governor's office reiterated that school districts residing in a county that is in the Substantial Transmission Level should move to a Remote Learning Model until that county returns to a Moderate or Low Transmission Level. This evening, the WCSD Board of School Directors voted to have all K-12 students receive virtual instruction thru December 11th with the return to face to face instruction on December 14th. This will include CTC students.
We understand the difficulty this may present to families. This was not an easy decision as we know that the best instruction can be delivered in a face-to-face setting. As we see the COVID-19 numbers rising, we want to do our part in keeping our students, staff, and community members as safe as possible. Teachers will be live streaming direct instruction from their classrooms. Students will log on to Canvas to receive direct instruction with opportunities to interact with classmates and ask questions of the teacher. Attendance is mandatory and grades will be given.
Mr. Jones and Mrs. Metzler will email information with more detail regarding student attendance, instructional schedules, and other procedures.
We thank you for your understanding in this difficult time. Please do not hesitate to reach out to the building principals or myself with any questions.
Lisa Murgas
Superintendent

SCHOOL DELAYS, CLOSINGS AND NOTIFICATIONS……
Please be reminded that the Williamsburg Community School District will be utilizing the One Call Now communication system to notify families of school delays and closings. The communication system will also be used to notify families of other notifications including emergencies and attendance. Notifications will be sent to the phone numbers you have registered with One Call Now from the information that was sent home at the beginning of the year. If you did not register any phone numbers, a notification will be sent to the primary phone number on file. It is extremely important to notify either the elementary or high school office any time you have a change in phone number. If you did not register any phone numbers with One Call Now and would like to, please call the school office.
Also, if you choose, you can receive text alerts in addition to phone calls. If you would like to receive text alerts, simply text “alert” to the number 22300. Once initiated, you will receive a text message reply from One Call Now. It may state, “message and data rates may apply.” If you have unlimited text messaging on your cellular plan, this should not apply. If you have limited text messaging, rates may apply. Please verify with your cellular plan carrier before setting up text alerts.
One Call Now notifications will come from the school’s phone number, 832-2125. If you do not answer the call, the notification will go to voicemail.
If you would like to have any A la Carte restrictions placed on your child's account, please contact Food Services Director, Heather Holencik.
