  • Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are certainly in a time of uncertainty as we navigate through the ever changing COVID-19 situation. As you are aware, Williamsburg Community School District is closed through April 6, 2020 with students to return on April 9, 2020. The administration and staff have been working during this closure to prepare enrichment and review activities to all students in grades K-12 through Google Classroom. Beginning Monday, March 30, 2020, all teachers will send out enrichment and review activities through Google Classroom. Teachers will provide activities to all students on Mondays and Wednesdays. There will be enough activities for students to work on Monday through Friday. Teachers will be available from 9:00am to 12:00pm Monday through Friday to answer any questions you or your child may have about the activities. Directions on how to access your child’s Google Classroom account are attached to this email. If you have difficulty accessing you child’s Google account, please email Mr. Jones or Mrs. Metzler for assistance.
The decision to provide enrichment and review activities was made with guidance from the Pennsylvania Department of Education. This method of education is to provide students with activities to review what was previously taught and to extend knowledge of what was previously taught. We ask that you please be patient with this online process as it is new to everyone. Teachers are working very hard to provide meaningful, high quality activities to their students. There will be some bumps along the way, but we will work through it.
For our special education students, online supports will be provided to support students through the Google Classroom activities. Learning Support Teachers will be communicating regularly with their students supporting their needs to complete activities and be successful. Gifted education students will also receive communication and enrichment activities from the Gifted Support Teacher through Google Classroom.
Finally, the District will accommodate any family who does not have access to Internet and Google Classroom. Paper/pencil packets will be available for students in grades K-6 on Monday, March 30, 2020 during the distribution of Grab and Go meals at the elementary school from 11:00-12:30. Packet distribution will be every Monday during this time. Families of students in grades 7-12, please notify the school office, or if able, email the principal, to make arrangements for distribution of paper/pencil packets for your child.
Please do not hesitate to contact Mr. Jones, Mrs. Metzler or myself with any questions or concerns you may have. We will navigate this new way of educating students together with the support of one another!

Take care and sharing the Blue Pirate Spirit,
    Lisa Murgas
    Superintendent
